With the aim of beautifying the streets, Los Árboles’ nonprofit is carrying out an ambitious project: to make a mosaic mural to adorn the bus stop in town. This work presents images of native flora and fauna, and recalls the greatness of the Riviera Maya.
After an arduous work of the school, projection, planning and design, they are finally in the stage of placing every piece of mosaic in their place, and the work is taking on a life of its own. We are hoping we’ll get to see it soon!
Here’s what Aline Libassi, chairman of the committee, said about the project: “The process is slow and requires attention to detail and excellent hand-eye coordination. I have seen children and women become good artists. When completed, the children will present their gift to the village; an example not only of their development as young artists, but also of what they can do a few hours a week to enrich children’s lives. We have been at the Macario Gómez School for five years now and we thank the LAT community for their continued support. ”
