The Northern Potoo

The Northern Potoo

Pájaro Estaca in spanish.

This bird becomes invisible during the day thanks to its cryptic coloration, which makes it look like a branch, when it perches vertically motionless on a trunk or branch. During the night they hunt flying insects, they have a huge mouth that goes from one ear to the other. It has a very long tail and wings. Its chick is white at birth and changes to dark gray when it reaches its adult stage.
